I don’t often comment on politics, because I believe a persons politics are their own business. I do sometimes eschew that people exercise their right to vote.

There is a special election coming up on Tuesday, January 19, in Massachusetts. I urge those of you living there to vote, to exercise your right to self determination. To often we feel there is nothing one person can to do change things for the better, myself included.

More importantly, today those in government forget they work for you and me, not the other way around — You can make a difference!

We make all kinds of excuses for not participating, but voting is one of your fundamental rights in a free county like ours. Please, don’t let it go to waste! I don’t.

I’m not sure if all states support permanent absentee ballots but California does and I take advantage of it. My ballots are mailed to me which makes for a much easier process. But if I want to vote ‘in person’ and take advantage of the community of people one finds there, I can hand carry my ballot to my polling place. It’s the best of both worlds. Consider doing  absentee ballots if it makes your life easier.

Tuesday is an important day in a number of states.

When I look at recent election fraud in foriegn nations, it makes me appreciate the fact that we have an election process in this country which allows us to make choices. Despite the faults in our system we are The one nation many others look to and would like to become more like.

We are a nation that  can correct those faults through our actions, including voting.

Yes, like it or not we – individuals, nations, religions, corporations, etc. – all make missteps. The trick is to realize, acknowledge them and correct them so we don’t make them again. We are a ‘Work In Progress‘!

There are times when I see things not going the way I feel they should in our great county and yes, become ‘less than enthusiastic’.

Whether I am enthusiastic or not one thing I always do and that is I Always Vote! In my local, state and national elections.

In New York, New Jersey, Virginia and California you have a chance to make a difference. It matters not to me what your political leanings are, I simply urge you to get out and vote – Make A Difference!

In 48 Hours or less the world changes.

I believe every citizen of the world deserves to have a voice in how they are governed, how their societies are shaped. It may not take the same exact form of our democracy – but make no mistake – the world is envious of the system of government we have.

I am told the 2004 presidential election had approximately a sixty percent turnout. And that often fewer than forty percent of voters participate in Congressional elections. Don’t let a minority make your decisions for you.

Don’t listen to pollsters, pundits or exit polls. As I said in an earlier post, these people all have their own agendas. Make your own decisions based on you, your family and your country’s needs.

I will be the first to admit there have been one or two times in my voting history when I’ve not voted, (I am 65 now), mostly due to cynicism. No matter the reason, I’ve always regretted those one or two times. Refusing to vote was not the right way.

ps: Ever worked a polling place? If not, give it a go. I always found it rewarding when I have done so.

to have your say in how this county moves
forward.

No matter who wins, our world as we know it
will change. This will not be the same country.

This is an historic time and you need to be a
part of it by voting your conscious. Vote based
on the issues involved and the effect they will
have on you, your family and your community.
Don’t base your decisions on the polls or the pundits.
Most have their built in prejudices, viewpoints
and agendas. Realize that fact.

In 11 days it will be all over. We will have a new president
and vice-president and this country will, hopefully, continue
the process of growing into our potential.

Yes, I said ‘growing’ as this ‘great experiment’ is a
continuous process and we have by no means reached our
potential. We have made mistakes and missteps during our
young years, and will continue to do so. We must recognize
and acknowledge those mistakes and move to correct them.

This is still, and will continue to be. the greatest county
in the world, with the greatest people. Despite what some
nay sayers may proclaim, the world does look to the Untied
States for leadership.

I believe that every individual in the world deserves democracy,
What ever form that may take where they are. Everyone in
the world deserves a say in how they are governed and how
their lives are affected by government.

Voting is one way we have a say in how things are
‘managed’. I consider voting a responsibility and a
privilege. As an ‘early voter’ I have already cast my
ballot.

I urge you to get out and vote for what you believe in,
to have a say in the direction our country moves. I think
this election has been historic and is critical to those
elements we believe in.
