The Year 2012…

The New Year 2012“Your friendship is a sweet pear, Through the year; and each New Year !! ” By – Dimple Verma

2011 has been a year of change and hardship around the world. From natural disasters to the world’s financial instabilities to regime changes, it has been a whirlwind year for us all.

Change is inevitable in life and hopefully, that change gives us new perspectives on the world at large and our own individual worlds.

Certainly, for me, dealing with a stroke near the end of 2011 gave me a new, and definitely unexpected, perspective on my life! I am slowly recovering – one hand/finger typing is not easy.

As we move forward into 2012 I hope that we can all contribute to bettering our lives and making the lives of those around us just a little bit better.

We all have a great deal of work to do to make this world a little better so begin the New Year of 2012 by looking around you and see what you can do to accomplish this – for yourself, your family, your friends, your community, your nation and the world, in that order!

One of the easiest things to accomplish is giving some one a smile – you would be surprised what a smile can do. It costs you nothing but the return can be great!

“Drop the last year into the silent limbo of the past. Let it go, for it was imperfect, and thank God that it can go.” – Brooks Atkinson

I don’t mean to make lite of the world’s or our individual, problems but change starts with one person believing in something. I have always felt that the way to a better world is to allow people, not governments, to solve problems, for we the people know what will make our lives better. Government is too far removed from the ills of this world and only concerned with perpetuating and growing itself!

One person can change the world around them. All have to do is ‘believe’!

STS135 – The Last Space Shuttle Mission

As the last of the US space shuttles begins it’s journey home, I am saddened that we seem to have lost our desire to continue our exploration.of the frontiers of space. We are by nature explorers.

I’ve seen many photos and videos of activities on the space station but for some reason I was really struck by the clothing the crews were wearing when the STS135 folks boarded the space station. by the casual nature of what they were wearing. I’ve seen this before but this time it ‘registered’ differently in my mind.

July 4, 2011

It’s time for another Fourth of July celebration.

It is the day we honor the Birthday of this United States of America as well as the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.

Happy Fourth of July 2011

While this has become a day for picnics, family celebrations, great fireworks displays (hopefully) and also time off work – four day holiday, yeah – we need to take time to the remember sacrifices it took over the decades to form this Great Country. And those sacrifices that continue to be made to keep what we have built!

Can We Do More With Less?

In today’s age of consumption, of grabbing everything we can – the biggest; the best; the most expensive; the newest; the…; can we do more with less?

If we examine our individual lifestyles we might just be shocked at what we see regarding our real needs, wants and desires. When I look around me I see things I didn’t need but just wanted – isn’t advertising wunnerful to us!. When the newness wore off the ‘thing’ was set aside to be used only sparingly or not again!

I love little tools. When I go to a hardware store the first thing I look at is the grab box area with all the little gee gaws. Almost without exception I grab something I don’t really need (maybe some day I’ll need it – right?). I have so many little boxes of tools, I could probably start selling them and retire.

And sometimes you may find that not buying something causes you to lookl for better ways to do what you want.

So take some time every so often and ask yourself if y ou really need what you’ve got you eyes on or can you do more with less.

The Royal Wedding

Well, did you have a chance to watch it? Or did you not care?
The Royal Wedding

I am not one to watch these things, preferring to see the snippets kamagra online on the various news channels. Besides I had some family stuff to attend to.

From what I have seen of these two, it appears they are pretty classy and down to earth folks and I think they will bring something special to the Royals.
